That Makes Me Smile

That awkward about me page.

A man once asked me what I wanted people to say at my funeral. Once I got past shock of the question and my boring initial response–she was kind and you could tell she loved Jesus, I realized maybe-less-than-Christian wish was that people would say I made them laugh.

I love Jesus. Please don’t hold it against me or do–it won’t really change my thoughts about Him. I’m still trying to find my voice in a noisy world, and although I don’t see this as a traditional Christian blog, Jesus does actively shape my worldview, so I’m not going to avoid talking about why I think He is awesome when it is relevant. Spoiler Alert: I’m slowing learning there isn’t a space in my life where Jesus is not relevant.

I imagine most of my readers are Christians, but if you’re not, I’m so glad you’re here! Jesus never forced Himself on people, and I’m not here to convert you because I don’t have that power.

I’m just here to share my struggles in an authentic way that encourages us to laugh more, dream bigger, and love better.

*** However, if anything I say or do makes you think less of Jesus, please don’t hold it against Him–hold it against me because I’m human and broken and mess up a lot in trying to live a life shaped by how well He loved people. ***

French Fries make me happy. I do not like to share my fries. I order buffer fries for my roommate when I go to Chick-fil-a.

Friends (Joey, Phoebe, Monica, Rachel, Chandler, and Ross is eh) makes me laugh and is the only show I’m able to watch over and over again without being bored.

Writing gives me life. So I can’t not do it anymore.

Puppies make me smile. Though I do have a slight aversion to dogs who are not proportionate and have bodies that are longer than their stubby little legs–you know like the Corgis the Internet (and the Queen of England) loves so much.
